Welcome to the Blackburn West Lothian Gala Day website.
This is a day for all the people of Blackburn to enjoy but it is mainly aimed at the children.
The Annual Gala Day was first established in 1911, on the one day of the year that all the local miners, mill workers etc had the day off. Over the years, the Gala Day grew into what it is today, with the introduction of a queen and attendants at the 1953 Coronation Gala Day.
This year’s gala day will take place on Saturday 9th June 2012. We are currently in the process or looking for local groups to take part in the procession. If you are part of a local group and would like to advertise your group by taking part, please get in touch.
Each year we hope to make it bigger and better than the last and with the re introduction of the fun fair on a Saturday we are looking to also have this on the Friday as well.
2 of the biggest events in out galaday calendar will be taking place shortly. Blackburn Schools Got Talent and the Blackburn Childrens Galaday Karaoke competition. Keep checking our events page for more information.
Plans for the civic week are well underway, Take a look at our other pages to see what's going on.
Without the support of the local community, this event could not take place.
